Nigeria and APC
The politics of Nigeria have seen trials, woes, and uncountable challenges which the citizens have on different stages surmounted.
Nigerians are people who fail to pay hid to past occurrences such as history in terms of picking successful leaders. The trials the country has witnessed since the day of her independence are the strong experience that is supposed to promote a better decision-making process concerning the leadership of a country.
There was a time when PDP ruled Nigeria for years yet the country suffered terribly from bad leadership and political party agenda.
APC emerged with a man with a different perspective, president Muhammadu Buhari. He chose an aspect of Nigeria's economy which has been neglected over the years. Agriculture was neglected and major decisions on Nigeria's economy were mainly to favor crude oil.
Although, Nigeria has rich talents but most times they allow party interest to disrupt the government process. These parties have some particular godfathers that make decisions for the powerful parties and eventually control the government.
Nigeria needs to get to that level where it should not just be about the political party or the religion but about the person contesting.
In making such decisions, research on the past activities of that person, and their lives before being a presidential candidate should be properly investigated.
There is a good reason why multinational companies always seek the years of experience a candidate has acquired before giving them certain positions to handle. The activities of these candidates in the past should never be overlooked. A man who has in him the nature of stealing or a kleptomaniac finger should not be given important positions to hold.
This is not the time to be forgiven of people's costly past mistakes especially when they have not properly accounted for them. Nigerians should stop being sentimental but act based on factual evidence showing that a candidate is loyal.
Loyalty in a man especially candidates shows that he can handle the position of presidency. The future of the country should not be based only on a well-planned political strategy such as a well-planned strategy on how to make the country's economy advance.
Nigeria has passed that level of the well-organized manifesto but we are seeking loyalty from the candidate, not a good manifesto. Leaders from the past have had well-written manifestos and strategies yet Nigeria is still crippled.
Nigerians should wake up and realize the great power that lies in making research on candidates, research on their past mistakes and how they rectifier them, their level of dogged commitment and loyalty.
A loyal person without a good manifesto can employ the right people with innovative ideas to work with him to resurrect the country but an unloyal person with a good manifesto will only cripple the country.
